Hurricane was the original industrial ventilator to incorporate Edmond's patented vertical vane technology.
Edmonds designed a heavy duty bearing system to improve ventilator performance and durability in high wind speeds. This bearing system prevents ingress of fine dust particles and fumes from harsh environmental conditions.
Good air circulation promotes the exhaust of hot and stale air and can prevent humidity build up. A well designed ventilator must be weather proof to prevent water ingress into the building whilst maintaining its performance. Edmonds vertical vane Hurricane range of ventilator have been performance tested to Australian Standard AS4740: Performance of Natural Ventilators to determine flow rate capacities and been wind load tested to 195km/h and tested for rain penetration to Australian Standard AS2428.1: Dynamic Wind Load & Rain Penetration Testing.
Testing at University of Technology Sydney have shown an improved co-efficient of discharge (Cd) compared to similar sized traditional spherical vents.

Roof mounted ventilators shall be Hurricane® 900mm ( or model H100, H150, H300,H400,H450,H500,H600,H700, or H800) vertical vane natural wind driven ventilator and shall be manufactured from standard aluminium, corrosion resistant marine grade aluminium or higher. The main bearing holder assembly shall be Glass Filled Nylon (PA6-GF30) and not be in the line of air flow. Ventilator tops shall be mill finished or powder coated with Colorbond® or as specified by the customer at time of confirmation. The ventilator shall be weather-tight under proper installation and normal operating conditions, and capable of withstanding a wind speed of 205.2km/hr. The ventilator shall be manufactured by CSR Edmonds® of New South Wales (1800 332 332) including applicable bases, dampers, fixings, trims, straps, flashings and other specified fittings manufactured by CSR Edmonds® as specified herein.
